JOB SUMMARY
The Technical (Maintenance) Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance and tooling activities in a blow molding manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all machinery, equipment, tools, and infrastructure are maintained efficiently to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency. The Technical Manager will oversee all technical personnel, implement preventive maintenance programs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF THE JOB
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of blow molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and plant infrastructure.
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Develop and implement maintenance programs to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and train supervisors, ensuring adherence to safety and operational protocols.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA, environmental regulations, and company safety policies.
- Spare Parts & Inventory Management: Monitor and manage spare parts inventory to ensure the availability of critical components.
- Process Improvement: Implement best practices in maintenance management, including lean methodologies and reliability-centered maintenance.
- Vendor & Contractor Coordination: Work with external vendors and contractors for equipment servicing, upgrades, and installations.
- Energy Efficiency & Sustainability: Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the maintenance budget, optimizing costs while ensuring high equipment reliability.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, downtime analysis, and performance metrics.
- Implement and sustain a Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Program
- Implement a training program for Technical Employees
- Meet Operational Targets in Improvement
- Prepare Monthly Reports related to OEE and Department priorities.
EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in maintenance or engineering management, preferably in blow molding or plastics manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and predictive maintenance technologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership abilities with a focus on training and developing maintenance teams.
- Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and other safety and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
