GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsibility to function as a Mold Maker: Ensure that the employee handbook is being followed; follow all IATF 16949 Instructions. Ensures adherence to PPE policy and 5s principles. Gain and maintain a complete understanding of all production related jobs, production requirements, standard work, and other tasks which may be instructed to perform by your supervisor. Contributes to building a positive team spirit; puts success of team above own interest and able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL ELEMNETS OF THE JOB
- Safety
- Consistently demonstrates and incorporates principals of safety for self and others in daily activities
- Ensures the use of safe procedures and standard work
- Ensure all equipment and machinery is operational and in good working order
- Daily Routine
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on molds.
- Clean and lubricate molds, replace mold components, and repair secondary equipment.
- Disassemble/assemble molds and secondary equipment.
- Mold repair including fitting and assembly of component parts to close tolerance (±.001), making ejector pins, removing broken bolts.
- Reads drawings, blueprints and document work completed and revisions.
- Contributes ideas for improved tool life and product design improvements.
- Operate horizontal mill, lathe and other tool room equipment in a safe manner.
- Responsible for completing all work assignments on a timely basis.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with manager, tool room and other departmental personnel in a team environment.
- Follow all department and company-wide safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Education/Experience
- Experience reading and interpreting prints and drawings
- Minimum of four years related experience and/or training as Moldmaker/Mold Builder
- Knowledge and use of shop floor inspection equipment
- Must be able to multitask.
- Ability to work effectively with others and independently
- Education equivalent to vocational or high school with completion of appropriate apprentice program or comparable experience.
- Manual mill, lathe grinder experience
- Must be able to bend, stoop, use hands and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Physical Requirement
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operation functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Must posses the visual alertness to operate equipment and motor vehicles, perform trades, tasks, inspect the work of others, and review work for accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness.
