Reporting to the Director of Product Development – USA & MEXICO, the Product Design Engineer’s primary responsibility will be to oversee activities related to product design, validation, and the development of tooling required for the manufacture of plastic parts intended for the automotive market, among others.


Working closely with the Program Manager, plants, tooling suppliers, and customers, the Product Design Engineer will be required to travel occasionally (10% to 20% of the time) to our various sites, including in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Applicants must have

  • Experience with OEM and/or supplier design & release.
  • Experience with NX, Catia V5, Teamcenter, SpinFire Actify.
  • Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R creation and execution.
  • Experience with component builds and execution.
  • Experience with production process feasibility and development including mold flow analysis or other interior component manufacturing processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or the equivalent) is a minimum.
  • 24 months of experience in a similar role is required.

Job duties include:

  • Design and Develop Ducts from concept through production.
  • Managing internal resources, interface with OEM, and collaborate with all cross functional Ford or other OEM’s internal organizations.
  • Component design, development, and packaging; Design Verification Plan & Report (DVPR) testing.
  • Create DFMEA’s and support creating control plans.
  • Support design, sourcing, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing activities.
  • Research, establish and achieve targets for performance, quality, cost, investment, and weight.
  • Analyze Class A surface data and work iteratively with studio designers and respective design & release engineers to instill engineering and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Coordinate supplier meetings, lead design reviews, and track issues.
  • Maintain EBOMs and manage data releases in accordance with program milestones and targets.
  • Interface with the core body function to maintain relationships and product understanding – sharing work methods, best practices, specifications, and guidelines.
  • Communicating technical product status to management.
  • Staying abreast of new technologies and competitive products.

Wage offered: $65,166;
