JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the VP Operations, the selected candidate’s main responsibilities will be to contribute to the ideation, implementation and maintenance of the global manufacturing vision at Exo-s.

Working closely with plant engineering and product development, the incumbent will manage teams dedicated to tooling development, automation & robotics, reliability as well as process innovation in order to:

  • Improve the efficiency of communication and collaboration between said groups.
  • Define a standard development structure for optimal manufacturing procedures.
  • Unify plant requirements and define best practices.
  • Disseminate technological improvements and knowledge across all plants.
  • Reduce maintenance time and improve production efficiency.

Wanted profile

Technical yet highly relational, this position requires a certain ease in production, tooling and automation, but above all a pleasure in bringing together a team that is currently disparate.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with a specialization in robotics or a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • More than 5 years’ experience in manufacturing.
  • Technical experience in automation and tooling (a definite asset).
  • Knowledge of the plastics industry, processes and equipment (blow molding and injection molding).
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools.
  • Team player; Mobilizer; Recognized for leadership.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Recognized for planning and organizational skills.
  • Expertise in problem solving and project management.
  • Negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Comfortable with MS Office tools, experience with ERP and project management systems.
  • English (Spanish and French are definite assets).
  • Self-motivated.
  • Available to travel.
  • Knowledge of ISO IATF 16949 standards (an asset).

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and deploy a common vision within the teams he/she manages.
  • Implement/update a standard for tooling and automation development.
  • Build a decision-making matrix for automation equipment choices.
  • Internalize as many services as possible to meet our cost-competitive manufacturing needs.
  • Document projects to better understand risks, contingency plan options and lessons learned.
  • Carry out risk analysis for all new robotic equipment and mechanical/electrical/programming modifications in order to implement a robotics safety standard.
  • Oversee the management of deadlines and costs during the design, manufacturing and production phases.
  • Carry out feasibility and financial analyses on various global projects.
  • Support all departments in continuous improvement projects.
  • Improve equipment efficiency and durability.
  • Lead technical and design meetings, training sessions and problem-solving teams (Kaizen, A3, etc.).
  • Communicate, negotiate and follow up with external suppliers.
  • Provide support to production teams even after equipment has been validated.
  • Ensure competitiveness of service in comparison with external market.
