Job Title: IT Trainee – Part-Time (Technical Support)
Location: Howe, Indiana and Coldwater, Michigan

Reports To: IT Director
Work Schedule: 2–3 days per week (flexible based on academic commitments or availability)


Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated IT Trainee to join our IT team on a part-time basis. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate looking to gain real-world experience in IT support and cybersecurity fundamentals. The trainee will assist with Level 1 support tasks such as user troubleshooting, equipment setup, and software support, while also contributing to basic cybersecurity checks and awareness initiatives.
This is a hands-on role where the trainee will work alongside experienced IT staff and gradually take responsibility for day-to-day IT operations, ticket management, and endpoint support across the organization.


Key Responsibilities:
IT Technical Support (Level 1)

  • Assist users with basic IT issues (hardware, software, printers, network access)
  • Support onboarding/offboarding activities (device setup, account provisioning)
  • Log and update tickets in the helpdesk system under supervision
  • Help maintain IT equipment inventory and organize supplies
    Hands-On Support
  • Participate in workstation setups, device imaging, and peripheral configuration
  • Provide on-site support during incidents, installations, or rollouts
  • Assist with cable management, device labeling, and basic troubleshooting

Cybersecurity Awareness (Entry-Level)

  • Perform basic endpoint security checks (updates, antivirus status, password policies)
  • Support internal phishing awareness campaigns and reporting processes
  • Assist with documentation of security incidents or device audit reports
    Learning & Development
  • Work alongside experienced IT staff to gain exposure to enterprise systems and tools
  • Participate in internal training sessions and hands-on learning
  • Stay informed on cybersecurity best practices and IT compliance basics

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in or recently completed a degree/diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Interest in both IT support and cybersecurity
  • Familiarity with Windows OS and Microsoft 365 is an asset
  • Ability to follow procedures and take direction from senior staff
  • English is required; Spanish and French are considered an asset
